It's a somewhat obscure/ sloppy method of getting the triangle channel to mute. What is Pitch 0 and why do we only find it in these 4 specific places? Their emulator is apparantly not handling these clicks correctly, and is replacing them with beeps. These are the result of using Pitch 0 from the triangle channel. If you listen to the original soundtrack, it does have clicky sounds where the beeps show up in the Anniversary Collection. But, considering that you can't hear two of the songs in CV1 correctly, it's still kind of a bummer. I'm pretty certain it's limited to these 4 beeps total, so it's not an issue throughout the whole game, nor should it show up in CV2 or CV3 at all. Two in the "Stalker" song, and two in the level clear jingle. In the Anniversary Collection, you can hear 4 high pitched beeps that are guaranteed/ consistent. The issue is that their emulator doesn't emulate "Pitch 0" of the triangle channel correctly, and this problem should still occur regardless of which ROM they use. But after some more poking around, I found that the beeping noises are unrelated to whether or not PRG0 vs PRG1 is being used. After finding and documenting some of the sound issues in Castlevania 1 (you can see that here), I was wondering about what caused them, and my attention was brought to this discussion.
